The Red Bluff Roundup offers athletes a chance for a big payday right after the Texas Swing, and rookie bareback rider Donny Proffit took full advantage.
Proffit drew C5 Rodeo’s Virgil and was marked 90 points, a new arena record. Proffit beat other riders like Kaycee Feild, Tanner Aus, Rocker Steiner and Garrett Shadbolt for the win.
The win earned Donny over $7,500 and is the highest-marked ride of the rookie’s career.
The win brought Proffit’s earnings up to $16,000 on the year and jumped him from outside the Top 50 to No. 29 in the PRCA World Standings. He is one of 10 rookie bareback riders currently ranked in the Top 30.
