After five sections of saddle bronc riding in Coarsegold, California this past weekend, it was Canadian cowboy Dawson Hay who walked away with the title and almost $13,000 making him your Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
Hay was in the fourth section of bronc riding when he put up an 88-point ride on Four Star Rodeo’s Star Born to be the highest-marked ride of the Battle of the Best so far and win that section.
In the Finals, Hay matched up with another Four Star Rodeo bronc, Wall Street. Eight seconds later and Hay went to the top of the leaderboard with an 88.5-point ride and he stayed there.
The Battle of the Best win has Hay sitting in the No. 4 spot in the PRCA World Standings. He has moved up 13 spots in less than a month.
