Dawson Hay is no stranger to big moments, and he delivered once again at the 2025 World Famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale Matched Xtreme Bronc event in Miles City, Montana, that took place over the weekend.
The standout bronc rider from Wildwood, Alberta, came out firing with an 89-point ride in the long round, then sealed the deal in the short round with a 90-point score matched up with J Bar J’s “Gronk” — locking in the event win and pocketing over $17,000. The win gave Hay a huge boost in the PRCA World Standings as the season heats up.
Hay has a history of success in Miles City, having won the event in 2024 with a pair of 90.5-point rides, and also taking the finals round event win in 2021. This marks his second consecutive win and third overall in the last five years.
Since earning the Resistol Rookie of the Year title in 2018, Hay has put together a strong résumé with five trips to the National Finals Rodeo. Now in 2025, he sits at No. 2 in the PRCA World Standings, just behind three-time World Champion Ryder Wright.
With the summer run approaching quickly, Hay is in a solid position to stay in the Gold Buckle conversation— making him your Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
