Rookie Thayne Elshere Emerging as a True All Around Threat

At just 21 years old, South Dakota cowboy Thayne Elshere is already making his mark on the rodeo scene. Coming from the well known Elshere rodeo family, Thayne has embraced the legacy while carving out his own path as a true all around cowboy.

Competing in both saddle bronc riding and bull riding, Elshere has shown his unique versatility. He grew up primarily riding bulls but added saddle bronc riding to his arsenal during his freshman year, a decision that has quickly paid off.

That success was on full display at the Rookie Rally in Fort Worth, where Elshere captured the saddle bronc riding title with an 87.5 point ride and followed it up with a second place finish in the bull riding after an 80 point ride.

Elshere currently sits inside the top 50 of the world standings in both saddle bronc riding and bull riding, while also ranking among the top rookies in each event. His consistency across disciplines also has him ranked No. 5 in the all around world standings.

With talent, grit, and a well rounded skill set, Thayne Elshere is proving he belongs at the highest level of the sport. As his career continues to build momentum, he’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting young cowboys to watch in the future of rodeo.
