At just 22 years old, Mason Spain is quickly making a name for himself in the rodeo world, showcasing his talent in both bull riding and saddle bronc riding. His versatility makes him a serious all-around contender.
So far this season, Spain sits second in the Resistol Rookie All-Around standings and fifth among rookie bull riders. While he is quick to say that bull riding is his true passion, the Texas cowboy has recently added saddle bronc riding to his repertoire and he’s eager to continue improving in that event.
Spain has already found success on the circuit level, most notably winning the Mountain States Circuit title in bull riding. That win earned him a spot at the NFR Open in Colorado Springs later this year, a key opportunity he hopes will boost him further up the standings and help secure a coveted spot at the National Finals Rodeo.
With the summer rodeo season heating up, Spain is well aware of the fierce competition ahead.
“No doubt there’s definitely a lot of great bull riders on that list,” he said. “A lot of guys who are very talented, and I’m just going to break it down one by one. Right now, my goal is to make it to the NFR.”
