Rookie Saddle Bronc Rider Damian Brennan Splits Round 2 Win in Calgary

Damian Brennan is a rookie sitting No. 20 in the World Standings and he split the Round 2 win in Pool B at the Calgary Stampede with an 86.5-point ride.

“This is absolutely awesome, what dreams are made of. I’ve been looking at this rodeo since I was a kid and to be here, to win the round, it’s awesome,” he said.

The Australian saddle bronc rider did not have the Round 1 that he was hoping for but he made up for it in Round 2. Brennan is tied with Brody Cress for third in the pool with $5,000. In front of them are Ben Andersen ($10,000) and Lefty Holman ($5,250). Andersen split Round 2 with Brennan after winning Round 1.

“Rodeo people, we’ve got to have a short memory sometimes so just forget about what happened yesterday and come here and focus on the horse I have,” he said.

He might have missed the victory lap for Round 2 but the young gun is going for it again in the next two rounds. You can watch all of the action from The Calgary Stampede through Championship Sunday on July 17 on The Cowboy Channel and PRCA on Cowboy Channel+.
