Rookie Saddle Bronc Rider Coleman Shallbetter Off to Hot Start in 2026

At just 21 years old, saddle bronc rider Coleman Shallbetter is already making his presence known in the professional rodeo scene. The 2026 season marks his rookie year in the PRCA, and early success suggests he is poised to be a serious contender throughout the year.

Shallbetter carried strong momentum into his rookie year after an impressive run on his permit in 2025. That season featured standout performances at some of rodeo’s most prestigious events, including the Pendleton Round-Up, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, and Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Shallbetter opened the 2026 year by winning the New Year’s Eve Buck & Ball in Gillette, WY with a shootout round victory aboard Summit Pro Rodeo’s Cat Walk, delivering a 90 point ride.

In addition to his professional rodeo career, Shallbetter continues to compete at the collegiate level as a member of Tarleton State University’s rodeo team in Stephenville, TX. Balancing college rodeo with PRCA competition, he has shown the consistency and composure of a veteran beyond his years.

With proven success against elite competition and confidence gained from a strong permit year, Coleman Shallbetter enters his rookie season positioned for another standout year in the saddle bronc riding.
