Saddle bronc rider Q Taylor matched up with the powerhouse Bridwell Pro Rodeo bronc, Indian Burn, for his first trip to the Redding Rodeo and it worked out in Taylor’s favor as the two did the dance for 88.5 points, enough for him to win the rodeo.
“He’s got the intimidation factor. Your motors running when you get on him and he goes out there and bucks every time. And we like big horses being from Canada,” Taylor said.
A total of nine bronc riders rode for at least 84.5 points at the rodeo.
At the end of the weekend, Taylor is now less than $2,000 behind Ryder Sanford for No. 1 in the Resistol Rookie race. Sanford is No. 19 and Taylor is No. 20.
It might be able to go unsaid that the Resistol Rookie of the Year title and a trip to the National Finals Rodeo are two of Taylor’s goals but right now he is having fun on the rodeo road.
