Entering this weekend, there had never been a steer wrestling time faster than 4.6 seconds at the Resistol Rookie Roundup presented by The Cowboy Channel, Cash Robb immediately rewrote those record books.

Robb, the No. 1 Resistol Rookie by more than $20,000, immediately got to work with a 3.9-second run to win the Long Round Friday night. He backed it the next day with a 3.6 in the Semifinals followed by a blistering 3.1 in the Finals to win the event.

It was the second time ever a cowboy had both the Long Round and the Short Round at the Rookie Roundup.

“At that point, it’s all just muscle memory,” Robb said when asked how he was able to register such a fast time in the Finals. “I blacked out when I nodded, but it felt great.”

Robb did not only extend his lead in the Rookie Standings with his performance in Fort Worth, he also managed to make it to last weekend’s Playoff Series Rodeo in Clovis, where he won the First Round with a 4.8.
