Roger Nonella Replaces Clay Smith at Cinch Timed Event Championship

Nonella talked which events he likes and doesn’t like and his reaction to the call

Roger Nonella got the call earlier this week that a spot had opened up at the Cinch Timed Event Championship after Clay Smith announced he would not be competing. Nonella made the decision quickly to head to the event and compete.

“I was excited to get the call. I like that event and I want to go back there every chance I get.”

The event is a grind as athletes compete in all timed events, but Nonella has a simple approach to the challenge.

“One event at a time really. You run the whole time getting ready and get your idea where your cattle are and then you just think of your first event.”

While he will be competing in all timed events, Nonella says the Steer Roping is what he is most confident in.

“The tripping anymore, the Steer Roping is my main event I’m doing.”

Nonella has been here before and has a game plan going into the Championship.

“I think my game plan will still be the same because I just take it one round at a time in each event.”
