The first of five SuperSeries brackets are complete in Houston and four competitors in each event have now punched their tickets to the Semifinals.
The roughstock events were all won by 2021 NFR qualifiers who are 23 or younger. Jess Pope was the top bareback rider by placing in the Top 2 in all three rounds to win $7,500, the most of any competitor in any event. Lefty Holman edged out Layton Green for the top spot in saddle bronc riding and in bull riding, Ky Hamilton was 2-for-3 and won Round 1 with 88 points on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Rubicon.
Barrel racer Jordon Briggs was the only other athlete to win $7,000 or more in SuperSeries I. The reigning World Champion won Round 1 and was second in Rounds 2 and 3.
Steer wrestler Tanner Brunner was another high money earner in the first SuperSeries. The Kansan won the first two rounds and made $6,750.
In team roping, 2021 NFR Average champions Andrew Ward/Buddy Hawkins took first and in tie-down, it was John Douch, who made his first NFR last year.
