RodeoHouston: Super Series III

RodeoHouston’s Semifinals are on their way to being set with three more Super Series to go. Tonight kicks off Super Series III, one that will bring us more of Cervi and Calgary’s best animal athletes with two bareback riding World Champions battling it out while two sister’s go head-to-head in the breakaway.

BAREBACK RIDING

Kaycee Feild and Jess Pope are among the eight cowboys out in Super Series III. Feild’s first match up is Mighty Mouse of the Cervi Brothers. Tanner Aus covered the horse for 82.5 points in San Antonio. Pope’s first draw is Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Monkey Mistress, who was also covered in San Antonio for 83.5 points.

STEER WRESTLING

Defending RodeoHouston Champion Hunter Cure is back for more. This win was a huge moment in Cure’s 2022 season and it could be just as impactful this year. Dalton Massey and Cody Devers are two bull doggers that have had success at the winter rodeos and RodeoHouston is the place to keep it up.

TEAM ROPING

Nelson Wyatt and Justin Davis are back again. After an extremely successful first rodeo as a team in San Antonio, it will be exciting to see what they get done at NRG Stadium. World Champions Kaleb Driggers and Junior Noguiera will not make it easy for them, neither will veterans Derrick Begay and Chasses Tryan.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

Canada’s Hay brothers and Utah’s Wright brothers will put on a show in the saddle bronc. Logan Hay has matched up with Calgary Stampede’s Sergeant Whitney. This will be a rematch for the two as Hay covered him for 85 points in Calgary in 2022. Spencer Wright has drawn another Calgary horse that Logan has had success on, Zealous Departure.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

After missing the Semifinals by $750 in 2022, Cory Solomon will be returning to leave it all in the arena. Standing between Solomon and the Semifinals are calf ropers like Michael Otero, Taylor Santos and the young gun, Trevor Hale.

Reigning World Champion Martha Angelone is not the only Angelone we will see in Super Series III. Her sister, Sarah, is out as well. Both sisters will be going to the chance to make it back for the first time. Joining them in that endeavor is World Champion Sawyer Gilbert, who will also be going for a first time Semifinals qualification.

BARREL RACING

Stevi Hillman is the only cowgirl in this Super Series to make it back to the Wildcard in 2022 however, Jackie Ganter has been undeniable since she brought Tycoon out in Fort Worth. She rode Sailor in San Antonio, who will Ganter pick for RodeoHouston?

BULL RIDING

San Antonio Champion Jeff Askey has matched up with Cervi Championship’s Ragin Cajun who only has one qualified ride on his in the past two years. That ride came in as a 76-point ride. Josh Frost and Lukasey Morris have had recent success in San Antonio and both of their Round 1 bulls are unridden.
