RodeoHouston: Super Series 1 Semifinal Qualifiers

The first Super Series of RodeoHouston has wrapped up and the first few Semifinalists have been named.

Houston Supers Series 1

Three rounds later and RodeoHouston has handed out the first guitars of the year and the first Semifinal tickets have been punched. The energy in NRG Stadium has been electric and we are just getting started.

The Top 4 money earners in each event have secured their place in the Semifinals that has them one step closer to a RodeoHouston title.

BAREBACK RIDING

Nick Pelke is a two-year veteran in the PRCA and in Houston, he never finished worse than third this year. Garrett Shadbolt was right there with him, consistently placing in all three go-rounds of his Super Series.

STEER WRESTLING

Stephen Cullling is continuing on his money spree as he was the No. 1 steer wrestler in Super Series 1 thanks to a second-place finish in Round 1 and a win in Round 2. Kyler Dick was just one place behind him after setting the pace for the Super Series with his 4.1 in Round 1.

TEAM ROPING

Lightning Aguilera and Jonathon Torres claimed two of the three rounds and the other went to Aaron Tsinigine and Ryan Motes. The underdogs of the Super Series, Bradley Massey and Zack Mabry, roped a 5.6 in Round 2 to earn just enough to advance.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

Lefty Holman continues to thrive in the Texas Swing and the same can be said for Statler Wright, your Top 2 in Super Series 1. Wright has put the highest score on the board so far with his 86.5 in Round 1 on Legacy Pro Rodeo’s Jitterbug.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

Four-time World Champion Caleb Smidt went to work in Houston as he made the fastest run of the rodeo so far with his round winning 8.4-second run. While World No. 2 John Douch has been the face of consistency, placing in every round to lock in his place in the Semifinals.

BREAKAWAY ROPING

A loaded field of breakaway ropers meant blazing fast times were coming. The Texas Swing Queen, Danielle Lowman, threw the fastest time we’ve seen so far with a 2.5 in Round 3. TiAda Gray’s consistency, however, has paid off as her two 3.2s and one 4.0-second run made her No. 1.

BARREL RACING

Lisa Lockhart and Rose threw down in Round 2 and 3 to get the win while Paige Jones’ Round 1 win made her the No. 2 cowgirl. Jessica Routier and Missy continue to be smooth and fast while Ashley Castleberry tasted success with a move on to the Semifinals at yet another Texas Swing rodeo.

BULL RIDING

Round 1 and 2 gave us three qualified rides apiece while Round 3 only gave us one. However, one cowboy has covered all three bulls and has a huge lead in the money and his name is Jeff Askey.
