Rodeo Austin kicks off with a bang. Some of the hottest young guns and some of the toughest veterans will get things rolling.
BAREBACK RIDING
Bill Tutor is a veteran bareback riding gearing up for a rematch with Beutler & Son Rodeo’s South Suds. He has been on this horse twice before, the most recent ride being in 2020. Up-and-comer Waylon Bourgeois has drawn Beutler’s Gray Goose. This horse only has two outs this season, one in Odessa and one in Tucson.

TEAM ROPING
Veteran team ropers Jake Orman and Brye Crites were just out of the money in 2022 in Round 1 by a tenth of a second before catching a leg in the Finals to add a five second penalty to their time. This year, can they make it all come together?

Spencer Wright has his work cut out for him as he has drawn Nutrena’s Full Deck of Beutler’s & Sons’ a horse that has bucked in the saddle bronc as far back as 2012 and has only met up with a Wright one time before. Jack Bentz is an Oregon bronc rider who drew Pop A Top, a horse that is unridden so far in 2023.

Nebraska’s Riley Pruitt picked up a check in 2022 after an 8.2-second run that would prove to be his fastest run of the rodeo. He is up against fellow Nebraska cowboy Riley Wakefield and young gun Tom Crouse.

BARREL RACING
Kricket Gintner is fresh off a go-round win at RodeoHouston where she is moving on to the Semifinals. Her horse Jax has never ran at Austin but her mother, Tammy, took to social media to say that this will be a bucket list run for Gintner and her equine partner.

Jeff Askey has been on a hot streak winning San Antonio and his Super Series of RodeoHouston. His bull in Austin is Black Mamba. This bull had only two qualified rides in 2022, one of which, came at Rodeo Austin.
