Rodeo Austin: Final Round

After three nights of Playoff Semifinals, the Finals of Rodeo Austin are packed with the best in each event. So far, Rodeo Austin has paid out over $500,000 and tonight, that will increase when we crown champions.

BAREBACK RIDING

Rookie Keenan Hayes has matched up with National Finals bucking horse of Beutler and Son Rodeo’s, Black Kat. Fellow rookie Kade Sonnier rode the horse for 87 points in San Antonio. Leighton Berry is looking to a big ride on Nutrena’s Tic Tac to help further his lead in the PRCA World Standings.

STEER WRESTLING

Kyle Irwin’s 3.5-second run tied for the fastest run of the rodeo and cinched him this spot in the Finals where the Alabama cowboy has a clean slate to go for the win. Joshua Hefner’s 3.6 was a close second while RodeoHouston Champion, Dalton Massey, is gunning for another Texas Swing win.

TEAM ROPING

The team roping roster is full of NFR teams but there are three that are not. J.C. and L.J. Yeahquo won the Long Round with a 4.2-second run. The clean slate in the Semifinals paid off for Payden Emmett and Lucas Falconer as they finished sixth to earn a spot in the Finals while Cash Duty and Sid Sporer are looking to have another round of success at one of the winter rodeos.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

The Canadian bronc riders Dawson Hay and Zeke Thurston have two great matchups. Hay has drawn Beutler and Son Rodeo’s Greeley Hat Works Foul Motion and Thurston’s draw is Andrews Rodeo’s American Hat’s Positive Times. Wyatt Casper covered the Andrews Rodeo bronc for 88 points in San Antonio.

Veterans of the rodeo game Tuf Cooper and Hunter Herrin are among the eight calf ropers backing into the box. Herrin’s 7.7 in the Semifinals tied to split the win with Cory Solomon and also tied to be the second fastest time of the rodeo.

BREAKAWAY ROPING

Hali Williams has a huge wave of momentum coming into the Final Round of Rodeo Austin. She roped smart during her Semifinals Round to earn a spot in the Finals where she has a clean slate. World Champions Sawyer Gilbert and Martha Angelone are also out.

BARREL RACING

Jordon Briggs and Rollo capitalized on Night No. 3 of Semifinals to make the fastest run of the rodeo with a 14.78 while Jessica Routier’s 14.93 is the second fastest and it came aboard her NFR mare, Missy. Amanda Welsh is on the comeback trail with her equine partner, Firefly, and that battled through the Semifinals to be the No. 4 team coming back.

BULL RIDING

Josh Frost has matched up with Andrews Rodeo’s Casper. Tyler Bingham split the win in the Long Round on this bull with an 86-point ride. Trey Holston’s draw is Beutler’s Moody Muley who bucked Jeff Bertus off in the Long Round.
