Rodeo Announcer Dr. Charles ‘Bud’ Townsend Passes Away at 93

Award-winning rodeo announcer Dr. Charles “Bud” Townsend passed away on Jan. 21 at 93 years old.

Townsend, who was born in 1929, began his announcing career in 1946 when he was just 16 years old. That career would continue for the next 50 years as he would announce rodeos across the United States.

Townsend was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, received an American Cowboy Culture Lifetime Achievement Award, an All Around Cowboy Award, and many other awards throughout his long career.

Funeral Services will be held on Jan. 26 in Amarillo, Texas.
