Riley Webb Opens Up Massive Lead in World Standings after Winning RodeoHouston Debut

Riley Webb had to sweat out a lot on Sunday afternoon in NRG Stadium.

In the 10-Man Championship Round, he was third out and had to watch as his 9.9-second run, which took the lead at the time, was beat or tied by three cowboys, qualifying him the Four-Man Shootout in the final spot.

Webb was unfazed, putting up a time of 8.9 seconds as the first one out in the Shootout that was good enough to survive the likes of Hunter Herrin, Reese Reimer and Beau Cooper.

“When you put a wrap and a hooey, it’s kind of a gamble, but it paid off today,” he said. “That calf was running and I tried to just be ready to flank. My horse did a great job.”

Webb entered the weekend No. 1 in the PRCA World Standings and now leads No. 2 Hunter Herrin by almost $50,000. It was his RodeoHouston debut.

“Can’t wait to get to Austin tomorrow night,” he said when asked if there was any pressure that came with the No. 1 ranking he will likely hold on to well into the summer.
