Resistol Rookie Of The Year, Saddle Bronc: K’s Thomson

K’s Thomson is a Canadian saddle bronc rider from Lundbreck, Alberta who cinched the Resistol Rookie of the Year title.

Thomson had some luck at the Southeastern Livestock Exposition and Rodeo in Montgomery, Alabama when he went for 84 points on Stace Smith’s Pony Man. In Redding, California Thomson took home the win on Pearl Necklace of Bridwell Pro Rodeo with 87.5 points and he also got the win at the Woodward Elks Rodeo in Oklahoma with an 86 point ride on Beutler and Son Rodeo’s No Show Jones. At the Cinch’s World’s toughest Rodeo in Nashville, he got second on Three Hills Rodeo’s Dixie Cup with 85 points.

At the Cody Stampede in Wyoming, Thomson rode Trump Card of C5 Rodeo for 88 points where he took the momentum to the Black Hills Roundup where he went for 86 points on Strawberry Rocket of Burch Rodeo. Thomson was an 83 point ride in Livingston, Montana before he went to the Calgary Stampede where he pulled multiple checks. He placed in the first and third rounds of his pool and went on to tie for a win in the wild-card round. He was second in the semifinals with 88 points on Wayne Vold’s Alberta Moon and second in the showdown round on Yesterday’s Delivery with 89 points.

Thomson wrapped up the 2021 season with some big wins. In Canby, Oregon he went for 89 points on Special Delivery, in Bremerton, Washington he went 88.5 points on Onion Ring and in San Bernardino, California he went 82 points on Lil Hawk.

Thomson missed the 2021 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo by less than $100 however, K’s Thomson is a name that we should all get used to seeing at the top of the world standings.
