Ryder Sanford battled his way through Performance 5 and a Semifinal of Cheyenne Frontier Days to end up with the pick of the pen in the Short Round, Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics The Black Tie. The rookie saddle bronc rider went on to break the arena record making him your Resistol Rookie of the Week.

Sanford’s trip in Cheyenne started with an 84.5-point ride on Corina of Summit Pro Rodeo that cinched his spot in the Semifinals. There, he was 86 points on Brookman Rodeo’s Apollo. These two rides added just over $4,000 to his earnings.

In the Short Round, Sanford and The Black Tie put on a show to be marked 92.5 points blowing by the previous record of 91 points, set by Cody DeMoss in 2010, and it added another $8,000 to Sanford’s season earnings.

Sanford sits No. 2 in the Resistol Rookie Race and he was one hole slot of the Top 15 in the PRCA going into Cheyenne. Setting the new arena record inside one of the most iconic arenas and on a World Champion bucking horse makes Sanford your Resistol Rookie of the Week.
