In his first appearance at the Ponoka Statmpede, rookie bareback rider Kade Sonnier made rides of 89.25, 89.50 and 88.50.
His 89.25-point ride on the legendary Virgil of C5 Rodeo was good enough to get the Long Round win while the 88.50-point ride carried him to second place in the Showdown.
Sonnier, who is No. 10 in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings, also placed at the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott, Arizona and the St. Paul Rodeo over Cowboy Christmas.
