Although the rodeo trail has proven to have its trials, in Garland’s first week of August, he tasted victory at a Playoff Rodeo to be your Resistol Rookie of the Week.
At Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo, Garland matched up with Beutler and Son Rodeo’s No. 911 to put an 81.5-point ride together. This was good enough for a fifth-place finish and an $855 payday in a sport where every penny counts.
Garland then went on to Dodge City, Kansas where he qualified for the Short Round after an 85-point ride in Round 1 aboard Frontier Rodeo’s Stanger Danger. On Championship Sunday, Garland had the bull every cowboy wanted, Frontier’s Glory Days. The two would add up to be 88.5 points and Garland cinched the win by a point and a half.
Garland left Dodge City with another $7,552 added to his season earnings. After a mentally taxing July, Garland found his stride in Kansas and he is your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.
