Dean Thompson has now had two weeks in a row of the kind of success that makes him back-to-back Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week. The Utah bareback rider found his way to the pay window at all three rodeos to add around $10,000 to his season earnings.
A pair of 86.5-point rides came Thompson’s way in Caldwell, Idaho. It kicked off with a tie for fourth in Round 1 after a match up with Big River of Powder Rodeo before he met up with Powder River’s Shade Tree for a rematch in the Short Round. He ended up second in the Aggregate.
In Baker, Montana he finished third at the Fallon County Fair and Rodeo after he drew C5 Rodeo’s Sunday Sinner. Thompson made an 85.5-point ride that proved to be worth $4,400 before he went on to Gooding where he cashed in another $1,200. This payday came after an 85-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Coconut Jamboree.
Thompson’s success has him holding on the No. 16 place in the world and riding the bubble. He is just out of the Top 15 by $300 and with five weeks still in the season, Thompson is gunning for the Thomas and Mack. Thompson is your Resistol Rookie of the Week yet again.
