It was a good week for bareback rider Dean Thompson as he picked up a big win in Oregon and found the pay window at three other rodeos to be your Resistol Rookie of the Week.
At the Lawton Rangers Rodeo in Oklahoma, Thompson put together an 85-point ride on Beutler and Son Rodeo’s Hot Sauce to finish with a fourth-place check before he went on to Omak, Washington. At the Omak Stampede, a 77.5 aboard Flying 5 Rodeo’s Broken Saddles would prove to be enough for third.
He followed it up with some home state success in Logan, Utah when he matched up with Legacy Pro Rodeo’s Lady Bird to be 83 points and add a fifth-place check to his season earnings.
The highlight of the Resistol Rookie’s week came in Hermiston, Oregon when Thompson drew the sought after Agent Lynx of Calgary Stampede. It was a packed house for the Saturday night performance and Thompson put together the winning ride of 87 points, one he was visibly fired up after. This win added over $4,000 to his name.
Not only has Thompson added almost $8,000 to his earnings but he has the momentum swinging in his favor as he goes into the final stretch of his first year of ProRodeo.
