Jeter Lawrence’s rookie year is off to a hot start. The Oklahoma bull rider has been cashing in and it was no different when he rolled into Mercedes, Texas for the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo. His success came in a big way to make him your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.

Lawrence kickstarted it with a massive ride at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo Xtreme Bulls when he matched up with Rocky Mountain Rodeo’s Spilled Communion, an undefeated bull. Lawrence put the first ride on the bull to the tune of 91 points.

The Xtreme Bulls win was worth over $5,500 and boosted Lawrence’s momentum going into the rodeo. There, he rode for 85 points when he drew Hoot of Lancaster and Cude Pro Rodeo to, once again, cover an unridden bull. This time, Lawrence’s ride put him No. 3 overall and was worth just over $2,500.

Lawrence currently leads the Resistol Rookie Race by just $6,000 and he sits No. 12 in the PRCA World Standings. He is your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.
