Montana cowboy Sam Petersen had a big weekend to stay right in the NFR race and win Resistol Rookie of the Week.
The 19-year-old thrived against stiff competition at the Days of ’47 Rodeo and Ogden Pioneer Days. He finished as the Bronze Medalist with 87.5 points in the Medal Round in Salt Lake City. He was the only one of the Final Four who had never made the NFR.
In Ogden, Petersen was 88.5 points on an NFR horse, Stace Smith’s Mr. Harry to share the win with three-time World Champion Tim O’Connell.
Petersen is currently No. 18 in the PRCA World Standings.
