Reserve World Champion Hayes Weight Gearing Up for Summer Run

In 2024, Hayes Weight wrapped up his season as the reserve world champion in bull riding. Now, heading into the heat of the new season, he’s sitting 23rd in the standings, but there’s still plenty of time for a big move.

It has been a slower start than Hayes would prefer, but he’s already picked up checks at several major rodeos, including Fort Worth, St. Paul, Perry, and Houston. Known for his distinctive riding style and ability to stay on bulls that give most riders trouble, Weight continues to show why he is one of the sport’s most respected competitors.

When asked about his approach before nodding his head, the bull rider shared, “I’ll watch some video and see what they’ve done in the past, but ultimately, they have a mind of their own. When I crawl off in there, my only game plan is to stick my hand in that rope, don’t let go, and just try to ride them front to back and let them do whatever they want underneath me.”

With the summer run just around the corner, Hayes is focused on staying consistent and pushing for constant improvement. His goal? Earning a spot at his third National Finals Rodeo.
