Stevi Hillman has qualified for the National Finals Rodeo six times and during her 2021 trip, she sent a gritty little mare called Lemon Drop down the alley.

Famous Lemon Drop belonged to Matt and Bendi Dunn of Dunn Ranch and Hillman was their jockey of choice for the palomino mare. Lemon Drop became a fan favorite horse as the six year old would prove that she was more than capable of clocking with the best of professional rodeo.

During their trip to Las Vegas, Hillman and Lemon Drop came in ranked No. 11 in the World and left No. 6 after winning two go-rounds, splitting 4th in the average and Hillman crossed the $1 million earning mark.

Hillman would go on to have two constant horses this 2022 season, Truck and Lemon Drop. At the Forth Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, Lemond Drop would carry Hillman to place in three rounds and qualify for the Finals. They would go on to have an outstanding summer run that consisted of placing at the Greeley Stampede, the Black Hills Roundup, Caldwell Night Rodeo and plenty more. She won the Oakley Independence Day Rodeo and Sheridan WYO Rodeo. The duo also took a chance to run at the World Champions Rodeo Alliance Cowboy Games.

Lemon Drop passed away after complications from colic surgery in Nampa, Idaho however, she left her mark on professional rodeo in record time. The Dunn’s took to social media to share that they will work hard to make sure Lemon Drop’s legacy lives on in her offspring while Hillman said that she and Truck had fast wings as they won the first round of Ellensburg Rodeo.
