Caleb Smidt is a three time and reigning World Champion Tie-Down Roper as he goes into his eighth National Finals Rodeo ranked No. 4 in the PRCA World Standings.

With the three World Titles and two NFR Average titles under his belt, Smidt knows exactly what to do in the Thomas and Mack. It is safe to say, he has been there before and done that. He has had an outstanding regular season getting a huge win in Calgary and staying consistent all year.

With that, take a look at Smidt’s 2022 regular season highlights.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

Calgary Stampede, $84,000

Winning the 2022 Calgary Stampede gave Smidt a huge advantage as he cashed in over $80,000 and added it to his season earnings. He roped his fastest times of the season in Canada stopping the clock at 7.0 in the Semifinals and making multiple 7.1 second runs.

FASTEST TIMES

Calgary Stampede, 7.0 seconds

During the Semifinals of the Calgary Stampede, Smidt shined. A 7.0 second run got him a second-place finish in the Semifinals before he went on to be the only calf roper to have a clean run in the Showdown Round to be crowned the champion.

NOTABLE WINS

Rodeo Austin

The second round of Rodeo Austin, Smidt roped a 7.9 to split the round win with Shad Mayfield. This sub-8-second run earned Smidt over $5,000 early on in the 2022 season.

Strawberry Days Rodeo

The Utah rodeo was another quick run for Smidt. A 7.6 allowed him to split the win and bring in over $4,000 and it gave the reigning World Champion some momentum going into the summer run.
