Reigning Champion Kassie Mowry Turns in Fastest of Run of Calgary in Sunday’s Barrel Race

Reigning Calgary Stampede Champion Kassie Mowry entered the third and final performance of Pool A with $2,083 and some work to do if she wanted to defend her title.

By the time Sunday’s barrel race concluded, Mowry was second in Pool A and on to the Semifinals. She stopped the clock at 17.02 seconds, more than three tenths faster than the next closest run through three performances.

“I just really know what this horse is capable of,” she said. “I tried to just basically do the same thing (I did in Rounds 1 and 2). I’m just ecstatic, there was a really slim chance for me to move forward.”

Lisa Lockhart, who won Rounds 1 and 2, won the pool with $18,500.

Mowry, Lockhart and the other 10 Semifinalsits will compete again on Sunday, July 16. In the meantime, The Calgary Stampede has new contestants in today as Pool B action kicks off at 3 PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
