In the latest PRCA Playoff Series Rodeo, more than $200,000 was paid out at the 76th installment of the Redding Rodeo.
Jayco Roper claimed the top spot in bareback riding with an impressive 87 points. Following closely behind were Jacek Frost and Keenan Hayes, scoring 85.5 and 85 points respectively. With the win (and one in Santa Rosa, Texas), Roper moved up six spots in the World Standings to No. 20 over the weekend.
Eric Logan dominated steer wrestling, clocking in at 4.5 seconds in the First Round and securing the win with a total time of 10.3 seconds on two.
In team roping, Hagen Peterson and Chase Tryan set the pace in the First Round with a speedy 4.9-second run, but Jaxson Tucker and Jason Johe emerged victorious in the Average. The win marked the first PRCA Playoff Series win in the careers of both the 22-year-old Tucker and 29-year-old Johe.
Reigning World Champion Zeke Thurston shined in saddle bronc riding with an 87.5-point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeo’s Momma’s Boy. Thurston has only competed in 12 events so far this season and Redding marked his first victory. He is now No. 14 in the World.
In tie-down roping, Britt Bedke and Trevor Hale showcased their talents with runs of 8.9 and 7.7 seconds to win Rounds 1 and 2 respectively, however, it was 40-year-old Dan Williams Jr. who ultimately edged out 2022 NFR qualifier Zack Jongbloed by one tenth in the Average, 18.1 to 18.2.
Miley Bravos blazed through the barrel racing setup in 17.37 seconds to clinch the top spot in the one-header and in the bull riding, Tristen Hutchings and Chance Schott shared the limelight in with matching scores of 86.5 points.
