Record-breaking PBR Bull Woopaa to be Retired

Barker Bulls/Hookin’ W Ranch have made the decision to retire Woopaa, the 2021 PBR Bull of the Year, after bucking for 3.5 years in the PBR.

“The decision to retire Woopaa, is not one we made lightly. The success he had in the arena is remarkable, and will forever be in the PBR history books,” read a message on the bull’s official Instagram page. “With his retirement there will be many Woopaa calves to come! We think they are going to have a bright future, just like their dad.”

Woopaa began competing in the PBR and immediately became known for carrying cowboys to eye-popping scores. Jose Vitor Leme rode him for a PBR record 97.75 points in 2021 only to carry Leme to another new record, which still stands, of 98.75 points just a few weeks later.

Overall, Woopaa was ridden 16-of-38 times and had not been ridden for less than 92.5 points until this year.

The post ended with a final thank you to all who helped build the legacy of Woopaa, “We want to say thank you to the PBR, bull riders, and the fans. What a career 124.”
