R.C. Landingham Sidelined in Reno, Targeting Fourth of July Comeback.

Despite a torn meniscus, the 2024 Reno Rodeo champ feels better than he has all season—and says he’s not done rodeoing yet.

R.C. Landingham, currently sitting No. 14 in the PRCA Bareback World Standings, confirmed he suffered a torn meniscus while competing at the Reno Rodeo this week—a rodeo he won just last year.

Despite the setback, Landingham remains in good spirits.

“Out of all the injuries I’ve had, this one’s almost ranked a zero,” he laughed.

This season hasn’t been without its challenges. Landingham admits he’s made some changes and struggled to find his rhythm. But just before the injury, he felt things starting to come together.

“I’m finally feeling like I’m getting back to my old self and riding good,” he said.

He’s aiming to return during the Fourth of July run or possibly at Calgary. For now, he’s headed home to recover—a move he says only sharpens his hunger to get back in the arena.

“I think it’s all gone the way it’s supposed to,” he added.

Landingham revealed that toward the end of last season, retirement crossed his mind. But those thoughts aren’t in the picture anymore.

“You go through waves in your career,” he said. “Right now, I feel like I need to be rodeoing a bit longer.”
