Q Taylor of Nanton, Alberta, delivered one of his biggest wins of the season at the historic Pendleton Round-Up, riding his way to the championship in front of a packed crowd on the grass in Oregon.
“I’ve been waiting to get on that horse for a long time. The Hammackers and I have been real close, I went to college there in Casper and they always had horses around. And I’ve seen that horse for forever, it’s just a dream come true to get to get on him here,” Taylor said.
He set the tone in Round One with an 87.5-point ride on Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics’ Mambo Italiano, which held up for second place. That set him up for a shot at the title in the finals, where Taylor came through with a standout 91-point ride on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Cat Walk — the highest-marked ride of the short round — to clinch the win.
The victory not only adds Pendleton to Taylor’s resume but also pushes his 2025 regular-season earnings over $100,000. Despite sitting at No. 20 in the world standings, the Canadian cowboy now has momentum on his side as the season heads into its final stretch and the race for the NFR heats up.
