Olin Hannum is two-time National Finals Rodeo steer wrestler with his most recent trip to Las Vegas coming in 2017 when he finished No. 9 in the World.

Hannum’s luck this year has pushed him to strive for the bright lights of the Thomas & Mack yet again and a successful weekend to start August may be what what helps him get over the edge. After winning two rodeos and placing at two others, he is your Pyranha Timed Event Athlete of the Week.

Hannum’s week started at the Wild Bill Hickock Rodeo in Abilene, Kansas where he would stop the clock at 4.7 seconds to finish third. Up next was the Mountain Valley Stampede (Utah) where he walked away with the win and $2,500 added to his earnings. He followed it up with another 4.0-second run in Castle Rock, Colorado to finish in the money at the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo.

Hannum’s big payday came at the PRCA Playoff Series Rodeo in Kansas, Dodge City Roundup Rodeo. He was a 4.7 in Round 1 but bested that time by eight tenths of a second to take third in Round 2 and his time on two advanced him to the Short Round on Sunday. It was there that Hannum was a 4.2, the fastest time in the performance by three tenths, to make his Average 12.8 seconds on three head.

The win earned him more than $10,000 of the $16,000+ he banked.

His trip to Dodge was even sweeter with his son right alongside, who also had winning on his mind in the mutton bustin.

Hannum jumped to No. 18 in the PRCA World Standings after sitting outside the Top 30 just two weeks ago.
