Preslie Reid on a Stressful and Successful Weekend at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo

The Texas barrel racer overcame some adversity to advance to the Semifinals in San Antonio

Preslie Reid truly had a great Bracket 2 of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. She won $6,000 and claimed two rounds wins, however, she endured some trials to get there.

She almost had to ride a backup horse in Round 1 because two of her horses had high CK-MM enzymes, which causes damage to skeletal muscles.

Eventually, after extensive IVs and blood work, one of her main mounts Carlos was ready to go.

“When I got on him to warm up (Sunday morning), he squealed at me and felt really, really good so he went in there and did what he was supposed to and seemed to be perfectly fine,” she said.

Doing what he was supposed to do resulted in times of 13.87 and 13.96 to win both rounds the Second and Third Round of Bracket 2 on the same day. She also clocked a 14.18 for fourth in her San Antonio debut the night prior.

Reid said on the way home from San Antonio, Carlos’ blood was checked again and his CK levels had returned to normal.
