By now you’ve likely heard about second-year pro Riley Webb’s dominance in the tie-down roping. He’s won $40,000 more than any tie-down roper ever has in a PRCA regular season and leads 5-of-6 statistical categories. There are, of course, plenty of other tie-down ropers to look at. And today, we’re going to focus in on two who always seem to perform well under the bright lights in Las Vegas.

Caleb Smidt has won the last two Gold Buckles and currently sits No. 12 in the PRCA World Standings, but ranks in the Top 5 in four statistical categories. Smidt has already doubled his totals from last season in Go-Round Wins (13 in 2023 to 5 in 2022) and 7.5 Second or Faster Runs (9 in 2023 to 4 in 2022).

The other veteran to keep an eye on in is Cory Solomon. The tie-down roper famous for his signature green shirts has been to nine NFRs since 2011 and despite being No. 13 in 2023, looks like a shoe-in to return. Solomon ranks in the Top 10 in every statistical category except Qualified Times and is in the Top 5 in 8.5 Second or Faster Runs, 7.5 Second or Faster Runs and Go-Round Wins.

One more reason to watch the two ropers whose initials are CS? They finished No. 1 and 2 in the NFR Average last year.
