Steer wrestlers have thrown down fast times all season long. Dalton Massey has a strong hold on No.1 in the PRCA World Standings by almost $50,000 with the next closest cowboy being Tyler Waguespack.
Utah Days of ’47, California Rodeo Salinas and Cheyenne Frontier Days added to some cowboys earnings to move them up in the standings.
No. 8 Dirk Tavenner, $77,112
Tavenner had a record setting trip in Salt Lake City. A 3.0-second run in the Fourth Performance not only broke the arena record but locked in Tavenner’s trip to the Gold Medal Round. A time of 3.5 seconds split the Round but Tavenner walked away with the gold and over $10,000. He followed it up with a Go-Round check of $3,000 at California Rodeo Salinas.
No. 6 Cody Devers, $85,014
Devers was as consistent as ever on his trip to Salt Lake City for the Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo. A time of 3.8 seconds tied him for sixth in Round 1 before a 4.0 flat moved him on to the Gold Medal Round. Devers added a total of $6,500 to his earnings while there. Since then, he has followed it up by finding the pay window in Hill City, Kansas at the Jayhawker Roundup with a 4.2-second run.
No. 13 Tucker Allen, $66,207
California’s own found himself with a big round of success in his home state. At California Rodeo Salinas, Allen hustled to be the champion. Three first place finishes including Round 2, the Short Go and the Average added almost $11,500 to his season earnings. Allen also threw the fastest run of the rodeo when he stopped the clock at 6.1 seconds in Round 2.
