PRCA Steer Wrestling World Standings Aug. 18: Jesse Brown Moves to No. 2, Dakota Eldridge Breaks in Top 10
Dalton Massey is having an unforgettable 2023 season as he holds on to the No. 1 spot in the PRCA Steer Wrestling World Standings by over $37,000. The four other steer wrestlers that make up the Top 5 are all multi-time National Finals Rodeo qualifiers meaning Massey might have the lead now but it’s still anybody’s game.
The bubble has one steer wrestler that is hunting his first ever NFR qualification while NFR veterans surround that No. 15 position. Nick Guy is in the hot seat while Tucker Allen is just outside of where he needs to be and Bridger Anderson is barely in.
No. 2 Jesse Brown, $121,090
Brown had a big week to move into the No. 2 spot and ahead of reigning World Champion Tyler Waguespack. It kicked off with a fast 3.7-second run in Jerome, Idaho to win the Jerome County Fair and Rodeo. A round win came his way after in his home state of Oregon at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo when he was a 3.3 to add $2,779 to his earnings. From there, a 4.4 cinched his third win of the week at the Lynden PRCA Rodeo in Washington.
No. 10 Dakota Eldridge, $84,425
Idaho, Oregon and Washington were also good to the Nevada bulldogger. He picked up a Go-Round and Average check from the Farm-City Pro Rodeo that when combined totaled over $3,500. A fourth-place finish at the Jerome County Fair and Rodeo after a 4.2-second run added another $1,400 before a 4.9-second run in Lynden, Washington brought in another $1,000. Eldridge moved up two spots in the World Standings.
No. 15 Nick Guy, $65,111
Guy only moved up one spot last week, but it was the most important jump he could make - from 16th to 15th. He did so with a fourth place finish at the Cache County Fair. Guy was the champion of the Kit Carson Pro Rodeo and the Snake River Stampede in late July.
