Steer wrestling has gotten much closer at the top as Calgary Stampede Champion Will Lummus made a massive leap in the PRCA World Standings and is closing in on RodeoHouston Champion and longtime No. 1 Hunter Cure.

Other big movers included NFR Open Champion Kyle Irwin and Rowdy Parrot. The full breakdown of the Top 20 is below.

1. Hunter Cure, $85,790

Cure had a solid showing in Calgary to hold onto his No. 1 spot by placing in three rounds. He has been No. 1 in the PRCA World Standings since winning RodeoHouston on March 19.

2. Will Lummus, $82,175

Will Lummus won The Calgary Stampede and has jumped up to No. 2 all the way from No. 12 two weeks ago. The 2021 Reserve World Champion has made nearly $40,000 in PRCA money in the last week.

3. Tyler Waguespack, $80,462

4. J.D. Struxness, $76,852

Struxness has been a mainstay in the Top 5 all season and made the 10-Man Round at The Calgary Stampede. His average time of 5.85 seconds is the best of his career.

5. Ty Erickson, $74,989

Erickson, like Lummus, benefited from a big week at The Calgary Stampede. He moved up from No. 7 in the PRCA World Standings and has made about $25,000 toward the standings in the last two weeks. Erickson stopped the clock at 4 seconds flat in the Championship Showdown to finish second in Calgary. Erickson has not been to the NFR since he won the Gold Buckle in 2019.

6. Tristan Martin, $72,591

Martin moved down three spots in the World Standings after winning about $3,000 over the last two weeks.

7. Stetson Jorgensen, $68,812

8. Timmy Sparing, $63,813

Sparing has won just one check on 12 runs since the Fourth of July.

9. Dakota Eldridge, $62,500

Eldridge made the 10-Man Semifinals on Sunday at The Calgary Stampede and made five runs of 5.0 seconds or faster there. Eldridge was sitting No. 6 on July 6, but through no fault of his own, was chased down and passed by Will Lummus, Ty Erickson and Stetson Jorgensen.

10. Kyle Irwin, $55,008

Kyle Irwin has moved into the Top 10 from No. 17 just two weeks ago after he won the Semifinals and the Finals of the NFR Open. Irwin, who made more than $15,000 at the event, is looking to make his first NFR since 2019.

11. Dalton Massey, $54,020

Over the Weekend of July 17, Massey finished third around at the NRR Open with a 4.3 second time and second in a round at the Sheridan Wyo Rodeo with a 3.7. He ultimately tied for the win there with a two-head Average of 8.4 seconds. Those two rodeos brought him in about $8,000 for the weekend. Massey, 29, has never finished better than No. 19 in the world, which he did a year ago.

12. Dirk Tavenner, $50,245

Tavenner has earned abouut $6,000 in PRCA money since the Fourth of July run and a majority of that came from The Calgary Stampede.

13. Rowdy Parrott, $49,468

Parrott was one of four cowboys to split the win with the Massey in Sheridan. The weekend prior, Parrott was 3.6 to finish second at the Silver State Stampede (Nevada) and third at the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo (Utah). All of that recent success has helped Rowdy Parrott go from No. 19 to No. 13 in two weeks.

14. Jesse Brown, $48,672

Jesse Brown won a round and placed second in another at The Calgary Stampede, but those have been his only two checks of more than $1,000 in July.

Nick Guy has not gone to the pay window in his last 13 runs. His last check came at the Greeley Stampede.

16. Paden McIntyre, $43,850

17. Riley Duvall, $42,734

Riley Duvall was outside of the Top 20 entering Calgary and advanced to the Four-Man Championship Round to jump to No. 17. The four-time NFR qualifier finished No. 8 in the world a season ago.

18. Cody Cabral, $42,261

Cody Cabral is one of the hottest bulldoggers in the world right now. After setting a new arena record at the Silver State Stampede (Nevada) on July 10, the Hawaiian went on to win a round and advance to the Four-Man Finals at the NFR Open, where he won $18,084, more money than other steer wrestler.
