PRCA Steer Wrestling Standings Update, Feb. 29: Jacob Talley and Kyle Irwin Break into Top 20 in a Big Way

A big shuffle came in the Steer Wrestling standings after San Antonio, Dixie National and Tuscon Champions were crowned.

The big man’s event in professional rodeo is heating up. With two Texas Swing Champions crowned, and even more rodeos getting underway, we have seen names enter thet Top 20 from miles away.

No. 2 Tyler Pearson, $35,497

Perason placed in all three go-rounds of his bracket in San Anotonio to advance to the Semis. There, he would up second and would leave with $8,500 in his pockets. While waiting for the Semifinals in Alamo City, he went to Jackson, Mississippi for the Dixie National to add another $2,300 to his name and move up three places to No. 2.

No. 5 Jacob Talley, $33,982

The Louisiana cowboy claimed the second leg of the Texas Swing with a 3.7-second run. To get to the Finals, he racked up $8,500 between three go-rounds in his bracket and bouncing back in the Wildcard after the Semifinals did not go his way. This is Talley’s first San Antonio title and it came with a jump from outside the Top 20 to No. 5.

No. 6 Stetson Jorgensen, $28,487

Jorgensen was sitting at No. 15 before placing in three rounds of San Antonio and finishing second in Tucson. A 3.7 would be his fastest time in San Antonio while it was a 4.7 in Tucson. Between the two rodeos, he added over $13,500 to his season earnings to find his place inside the Top 10 as we head into the biggest rodeo in Texas.

No. 7 Stephen Culling, $28,170

Culling is the second cowboy who has earned his was in to the Top 20 in the month of February. This is thanks to an impressive trip to San Antonio that ended when he clocked a 3.8 in the Short Go to finish second and claim the prize money that came along with it at $10,000. Added to his go-round earnings and Culling in on the move.

No. 10 Kyle Irwin, $20,489

Irwin is another who’s trip to San Antone sent him flying towards the Top 10. It started when he split the Round 1 win of his bracket and ended when he stopped the clock at 4.4 in the Short Go to finish fourth. His total money earned at Frost Bank Center came in at $11,500.
