Rodeo’s classic event of saddle bronc riding is stacked in the standings with some of the events most notables names claiming the Top 20 spots including Sage Newman, Dawson Hay and Stetson Wright.
No. 1 Sage Newman, $94,832
Sage Newman hasn’t missed a beat as he makes his way through the Texas Swing to sit No. 1 in the PRCA World Standings. Newman advanced through to the Final Round of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo where he collected a total of $11,750 after marking a 90-point ride to claim fourth place following Stetson Wright, Chase Brooks and Zeke Thurston. Newman turned in his second 90-point ride of the season at RodeoHouston on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Womanizer in the Championship Shootout to win the coveted $50,000 and secure his position at No. 1.
No 2. Stetson Wright, $90,147
Stetson Wright is no stranger to winning and he stuck to what he knew as he made his way through the Texas Swing as he has accumulated over $90,000 in earnings to follow close behind Sage Newman at No. 2 in the World Standings. Wright split the win at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo with Dawson Hay as they each turned in a 90.5-point ride and stayed steady going into the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo where he made a monster 92.5-point ride on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Ricky Bobby to take home another title. The World Champion kept the momentum going in the Final Round of Rodeo Austin as he notched another win as he turned in a 90-point ride on Andrews Rodeo’s Brutus.
No. 3 Zeke Thurston, $65,170
Reigning World Champion Zeke Thurston shows no signs of slowing down this 2023 season as he sits No. 3 in the World Standings with $65,170 in earnings. Thurston remained consistent at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo collecting a total of $15,500 as he qualified for the Final Round where he tied for second place with a 90.5 point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Xplosive Skies. The Canadian cowboy didn’t stop there on his tour of the Texas Swing as he won checks at both RodeoHouston and Rodeo Austin to land him at No. 3 in the standings.
No. 9 Tanner Butner, $37,040
Tanner Butner qualified for his first National Finals Rodeo in 2022 and is bringing that momentum into the current season as he sits No. 9 in the World Standings after accumulating just over $37,000. Butner finished out the Final Round of both Rodeo Austin and the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in the Top 3 and is headed to San Angelo for the final event of the Texas Swing.
