With the winter run coming to a close, your Top 20 in the PRCA Saddle Bronc World Standings are names you are familiar with seeing. Two from the Wright family have earned their place at the top while South Dakota and Canada have left no doubt that their saddle bronc roots are strong. Take a look at the current top saddle bronc riders in the world.
1. Stetson Wright, $104,246
The seven-time World Champion currently holds the No.1 spot in the PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Standings and is getting closer to securing another trip to the National Finals Rodeo with each check he pulls. Wright jump started his season with a win at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo (Colorado) and quickly surpassed his competition after securing a championship title in Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin. The Texas Swing was a lucrative run for Wright as he earned just under $74,000 in the Lone Star State alone. Wright has accumulated a total of $104,246 thus far in the season with additional wins from the Clark County Fair and Rodeo (Nevada), the San Angelo Cinch Chute-out and the Wilderness Circuit Finals.
2. Sage Newman, $98,805.51
RodeoHouston was good to No. 2 cowboy Sage Newman as he added over $56,000 to his earnings after turning in a monster ride of 90 points in the Championship Shootout to secure the win. Newman also pulled a first place check at the 94th Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo as well at the New Years Eve Buck and Ball (Wyoming). Although he finished fourth in the Final Round, Newman took home $11,750 from the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and continues to fight for the No. 1 spot.
3. Zeke Thurston, $65,170
Thee-time World Champion Zeke Thurston is no stranger to winning and that’s what he did at the La Fiesta De Los Vaqueros where he earned over $8,000 in Tuscon, Arizona. Although Thurston didn’t take home any championship titles throughout the Texas Swing, he was able to pull checks at each totaling out to over $37,000. Thurston currently sits at No. 3 in the Saddle Bronc Standings with $65,170 in earnings.
4. Chase Brooks, $51, 325
Chase Brooks is a five-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier and is on track to another as he sits fourth in the World Standings with $51,325 in earnings. Brooks placed within the Top 3 in multiple rounds at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo collecting over $14,000 in earnings. A second place check of $20,000 at RodeoHouston aided in Brooks jump to the Top 5 along with a win at both Rodeo Rapid City PRCA Xtreme Broncs (South Dakota) and 150th Silver Spurs Rodeo (Florida) taking home a combined earnings of over $7,000.
5. Ben Andersen, $49,491
Another renowned Canadian cowboy reserves a spot in the Top 5 as Ben Andersen sits No. 5 in the Saddle Bronc World Standings with earnings just shy of $50,000. Anderson finished third at RodeoHouston where he pulled a check total of $15,750. With multiple notable wins Andersen has collected four first place each worth over $4,000.
6. Tanner Butner, $47,442
Tanner Butner qualified for his first National Finals Rodeo in 2022 and is keeping the momentum going into the current season as he won the majority of his earnings throughout the Texas Swing where he collected over $30,000.
7. Dawson Hay, $47,125
Three-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier Dawson Hay split the win in Fort Worth, which came with a paycheck of $21,080. Hay went on to win the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo to take home $15,858. Hay’s 91-point ride at the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo (California) secured him his third win of a season.
8. Kade Bruno, $47,076
At 22-years-old Kade Bruno has one National Finals Rodeo under his belt and is on track for a second as he sits at No. 8 in the World Standings. Bruno cinched a check for $8,721 as he won the Columbia River Circuit Finals. Bruno also pulled multiple checks throughout the Texas Swing including RodeoHouston where the cowboy took home $9,250.
9. Ryder Wright, $44,252
With two Gold Buckles to his name, Ryder Wright knows a thing about being in the Top 15 of the World Standings and currently sits No. 9 with $44,252 in earnings. Wright collected over $33,500 throughout the Texas Swing and secured second place at multiple rodeos where he pulled a check for over $1,500 for each.
10. Jacobs Crawley, $44,038
Jacobs Crawley rounds out the Top 10 as he secured two Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo wins this season with money totaling out to $7,368. Crawley also stayed consistent at the Texas Circuit Finals earning just shy of $6,000 as he placed in three of the four rounds. Crawley pulled multiple checks throughout the Texas Swing to bring his total earnings to $44,038.
11. Brody Cress, $43,102
Brody Cress is the face of consistency with six National Finals Rodeo qualifications and currently sits No. 11 in the World Standings. Cress took the top spot at the Chase Hawks Rough Stock Rodeo (Montana) with an 89-point ride to pull a check for $8,445. He then went on to cinch the win at the Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo (Texas) adding $4,109 to his earnings. Despite him leaving the Lone Star State without a championship, Cress accumulated over $27,000 while competing throughout the Texas Swing.
12. Wyatt Casper, $41,616
Wyatt Casper earned a total of $20,834 in his home state during the Texas Swing and secured a win at the Los Fresnos Rodeo (Texas) with an 87-point ride on Stace Smith Pro Rodeo’s Chester. Casper sits within the Top 15 at No. 12 in the PRCA World Standings.
13. Cash Wilson, $40,166
Fresh off his rookie year, Cash Wilson has already claimed multiple championship titles this season including Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo, Rodeo Minot (North Dakota) and the High Desert Stampede (Oregon). Out of the Texas Swing, Wilson collected the most money in San Antonio and San Angelo where he earned a total of $14,140 combined. At just 22-years-old, Wilson sits No. 13 in the World Standings with over $40,000 in earnings
14. Shorty Garrett, $38,087
Shorty Garrett has won just over $38,000 so far this season with two wins under his belt including the Badland Circuit Finals where he pulled a check for just over $9,400. Garrett also cinched the win at Rodeo Rapid City with a 89-.5-point ride on Sutton Rodeo’s South Point to take home a check for $4,625.
15.Logan Hay, $35,496
Logan Hay’s wins this season span from Columbus, Ohio at the Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo, to the Bucking Battle in Bismarck, North Dakota, all the way to Medicine Hat, Alberta. Hay’s two wins in the United States contributed $8,500 to his standings and he sits No.15 in the World.
16. Brody Wells, $33,277
At just 21-years-old Brody Wells is sitting right on the bubble at No.16 in the Saddle Bronc World Standings. Out of Well’s $33,277 in earnings, over half was won at the Brad Gjermundson Extreme Broncs (North Dakota) where Wells turned in a 90-point ride on J Bar J’s Straight Moonshine to take the lead in the Final Round and ultimately win the Average taking home a total of $17,404.
17. Ryder Sanford, $32,232
Ryder Sanford is currently No. 17 in the World Standings with $32,232 in earnings, however, as this is Sanford’s first year competing on his PRCA Card, he is sitting No. 1 in the Resistol Rookie Standings. Sanford picked up a first place check at the Wayward Son Bulls, Broncs, and Bands (Missouri) as well as the Southeastern Circuit Finals and the Trinity Valley Exposition Fair and Rodeo (Texas).
18. Isaac Diaz, $31,752
Multi-time National Finals Rodeo cowboy Isaac Diaz started his season off strong as he pulled a hefty check of $8,169 at the Brad Gjermundson Extreme Broncs. Diaz competed at RodeoHouston where he acquired another check for $8,500. With six months remaining in the season and plenty of checks left to pull Diaz has a chance of placing himself within the Top 15.
19. Layton Green, $28,777
After placing in multiple rounds of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and RodeoHouston the three-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier collected over $17,000 in earnings throughout the Texas Swing. Green is currently sitting No. 19 in the PRCA World Standings with a total of $28,777.
20. Ross Griffin, $26,523
RodeoHouston was good to Ross Griffin as he placed in multiple rounds including the Chammpionship to take home a check total of $10,000. Griffin took home his first championship title of the season from West Plains, MO at the Wayward Son Bulls, Broncs and Bands event where he earned a check for $3,313.
