PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings Sept. 27: Kade Sonnier Dominates & Jess Pope Hangs on to Top 10

The last week of the season could bring a big change in the World Standings as we head into the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup where $1 million will be paid out over three days in all events.

With Kennan Hayes $89,000 lead in the bareback riding, he is comfortably heading to the National Finals Rodeo his rookie year. Veterans like Tim O’Connell, Tanner Aus and Richmond Champion are making their return as well while the young guns of bareback riding continue to rise.

No. 2 Kade Sonnier, $157,969

Sonnier came back down south for the final two weeks of the season and he picked up two wins along the way. Starting with an 89-point ride at the Springhill PRCA Rodeo in his home state of Lousiana, a first place payday was worth almost $2,000. He followed it up with his second win at the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas.

No. 4 Clayton Biglow, $151,432

The World Champion added another $3,300 to his earnings after two rides in the 80-point range at two California rodeos. In San Bernardino, he finished sixth with an 82-point ride before heading to Sonoma where he was 81.5 points to be second.

No. 6 Rocker Steiner, $143,123

A $4,000 pay check came Steiner’s way when he covered Legacy Pro Rodeo’s War Widow for 86 points at Lion’s Dixie Roundup in St. George, Utah. He made an additional $4,300 by placing in the top three at two other rodeos in the same weekend, the Omaha River City Rodeo and the New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo.

No. 10 Jess Pope, $126,048

The reigning World Champion won the Long Round and the second Chute Out Round of the Madison Pro Rodeo in Indiana this weekend. He made an 87.5-point ride in the Long Round on Three Hills Rodeo’s Tarnished Silver and it was an 88-point ride on Championship Pro Rodeo’s Witchy Woman in the Chute Out. In total, it added $4,000 to his earnings.

No. 11 Kaycee Feild, $119,888

Feild’s weekend started out with a small win in St. George, Utah after an 81.5-point ride and it went up from there. In San Bernadino, California, he rode for 82.5 points to add $1,200 to his seaosn earnings. He capped it off with a first place finish at the Wing & Barrel Western Days in Sonoma and an 84-point ride.
