Powder River Rodeo’s John Franzen Talks Broncs in the Black Hills

The Broncs in the Black Hills is back and set to take place in Rapid City, South Dakota over the weekend.

Powder River Rodeo sectioned their horses off into sections to go with the five sections of six contestants. Two contestants from each section move on to the Short Round. In total, it is a ten-man Short Round.

Among the list of cowboys going is Ryder Wright, Shorty Garrett, first time NFR qualifier Kade Bruno and rookie Cash Wilson. The field is full of the best saddle bronc riders matched up with some of the best stock that Powder River has to offer.

“It’s going to be a really fun, spectacular night and I think there is going to be some really big, big rides,” says John Franzen of Powder River.

One of the horses making an out will be the one and only Two Buck Chuck, one of his few outs in the saddle bronc. Miss Valley and Double Take are two more that you can see in Rapid City.
