The Pendleton Round-Up has been going for over 100 years strong and in 2022, every single champion won the rodeo for the first time.
In the bareback riding, six-time World Champion Kaycee Feild put his name in Pendleton history for the first time with 90 points on Irish Eyes to finish the job.
In steer wrestling, Riley Wakefield got the biggest win of his career by turning an aggregate time of 17.3 seconds, which was 2.5 seconds clear of second place Nick Guy.
Brothers Jonathan and Joshua Torres won the team roping to put Jonathan right on the NFR cutline at No. 15. If he were to qualify, that would lead to some partner changes as Joshua is outside the Top 30.
Kolby Wanchuk moved into the Top 10 and locked up his second consecutive NFR appearance by riding for 90 in the Short Round. Wanchuk beat out his compatriot Dawson Hay by a point on aggregate.
In tie-down roping, it was rookie Trevor Hale getting it done in his first appearance. His 8 second flat run in the Finals was tied for the fastest of the rodeo.
Jacey Fortier won the breakaway roping with 6.0 seconds flat on two.
In barrel racing, Kacey Gartner was first in the Long Round and second in the Short Round to win the Average by nearly a half-second.
Lastly, Bubba Greig won the bull riding thanks to 88.5 points in the Long Round as there were no qualified rides in Saturday’s Finals.
