Olin Hannum had winning on his mind in Dodge City, Kansas and after a 4.2-second run in the Short Go, he is taking home the Dodge City Roundup win for the second time.
He made a horse switch in the Short Go to Blake Knowles’ horse and it paid off in a big way. Hannum’s tie of 12.8 seconds on three head cinched the win by four tenths of a second.
“Well I rode this horse at Salinas and he felt really good to me and he felt really easy and I wanted to be able to come and win what I was supposed to win. I just wanted a horse that I knew would do the job and give me a shot,” Hannum said.
Hannum did it before in 2010 and he has done it again in 2023. This Dodge City payday will push him closer to the goal of a third National Finals Rodeo qualification as it put him No. 18 in the PRCA World Standings.
