Taylor Broussard is set to compete in the third National Finals Rodeo of his career, each earned after remarkably similar regular seasons. In 2019, he qualified as the No. 15 bareback rider with $93,502 in earnings. His second appearance came in 2021, when he finished 14th after a regular season totaling $82,000.

This year, Broussard achieved a career-best $129,499, yet his spot at the NFR remained uncertain until the final weekend. He clinched his third qualification by a margin of less than $2,000.

Bucking Battle in Bismarck, $6,450

Broussard’s season got off to a great start with three Go-Round Wins on his five rides in October of 2023. His biggest win of the stretch came in Bismarck, North Dakota where he was 85 points to walk away with the title.

Southeastern Circuit Finals, $9,321

The winning ways for the Louisiana native did not slow down into November. At the Southeastern Circuit Finals, he won Round 1 on his way to first place finish in the Average with 249.5 points on three. All three of his rides were at least 82 points.

Rodeo Austin, $11,788

Broussard finished second at Rodeo Austin, which was his best finish in the Texas Swing. He opened the rodeo with rides of 85.5 and 84 points to lock in a spot in the Finals. His Short Round ride was his best, 86 points on Beutler & Son’s Unleashed to win more than $7,700.

Battle Born Broncs, $6,010

Right before the beginning of the Summer Run, Broussard added one more big check in Fallon, Nevada. He placed second with an 87.5-point ride on Outlaw Tunes.

Heading into 100 Rodeos in 100 Days, he was ranked No. 8 in the PRCA World Standings.

NFR Open, $15,250

In Pool C, Broussard was 84.5 points and 81 points to advance to the Finals where the winner would take home $13,000. While Broussard didn’t get the win, he did place second with an 87-point ride on Empty Promises to earn $10,000 of his $15,000+ in Colorado Springs.

That Famous Preston Night Rodeo, $4,089

As Broussard entered the season’s final two months, it was clear he would be battling for his NFR life once again. He got a big boost to his chances in Preston where he took home the win with an 85.5-point ride to be 3.5 points clear of the rest of the field. Fellow NFR qualifier R.C. Landingham was second.

Lion’s Dixie Roundup, $4,547

By mid-September when Broussard headed to St. George, Utah for the Lion’s Dixie Roundup he knew he needed every dollar possible to qualify for the NFR. When it mattered most, Broussard proved up for the task. He took the title at the rodeo where he was 87 points on Legacy Pro Rodeo’s Outlaw. The win earned him $4,500 and pushed him that much closer to an NFR appearance at No. 12 in the World with two weeks left in the season, but his work was not done.

Young Living’s Last Chance Rodeo, $1,745

Appropriately named, Broussard earned his third NFR qualification at the Young Living’s Last Chance Rodeo on his last ride of the season. It wasn’t his highest-marked ride or his biggest payday, but it was his most important ride of the season. Broussard was 86 points on, ironically enough, Last Hope to win $1,745 and lock in his NFR spot. In the end, he was less than $500 in front of No. 15 Richmond Champion and less than $1,000 ahead of No. 16 Tanner Aus.
