No. 1 Rookie Bareback Rider Keenan Hayes Talks Fantastic Winter and More on WSR

Keenan Hayes has won more money than any rookie in any event in the 2023 season and also ranks No. 2 in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings with $104,000 to his name.

Hayes joined Western Sports Round-Up on Tuesday night to talk making the Finals in his debut in San Antonio and Houston, winning Rodeo Austin and the Resistol Rookie Roundup, and why he’s going to be more selective as to where he competes in the summer.

“I just kind of got to riding good last fall, at the end of it, was feeling good all last year and kept it rolling into this year. I learned a lot of different things from rodeoing two years on my permit,” he said. “Being in the position I’m in now, I can really pick and choose where I want to go.....I like rodeoing, keeping myself busy and getting on horses, I feel the best that way. So, I’m still going to go a lot, but I’m going to be a lot smarter with how I do it.”
