Caleb Bennett is going to miss between four and six weeks after he had surgery on his right elbow on April 18, according to ProRodeo.com.

There was no specific thing that caused the injury, but Bennett said the pain had been nagging for a bit and flared up again in March.

“My goal was to try and get through the end of April. May is slower as far as big opportunities for money and that would be my best time to take off,” he said.

Bennett, who has made nine NFRs in the last 10 years, won Rodeo Austin earlier this year and is currently No. 10 in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings.

His target return date is June 4 at the Darby Riggin’ Rally.
