Trevor Brazile had a big weekend at the National Finals Steer Roping in Mulvane, Kansas.
Not only did ProRodeo’s winningest cowboy surpass the $7 million mark in total career earnings (a marker no other athlete has even come close to), but he also claimed his eighth steer roping world title and 26th career gold buckle.
He proved cool under pressure in Round 10 Saturday night, when needing to rope a final steer to win the world title — and he did just that.
“If you don’t go do your job and you don’t execute, somebody else is the world champ,” said Brazile told ProRodeo.com. “Once they told me what I was doing, that was it. I just went and made my run. This is awesome. I want everybody to know that my thanks goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He blessed me so much. I’m just thankful for the opportunity and the blessings that have come my way, and we were able to capitalize on this.”
Winning a total of $69,072 at the NFSR, Brazile finished with $117,459 in earnings for the season, bumping Scott Snedecor into second with $110,779.
It wasn’t enough, however, to push Brazile to the top of the All-Around race. He now sits in second behind brother-in-law Tuf Cooper, who won just more than $24,000 at the NFSR. Reigning All-Around champion Stetson Wright, who had previously overtaken Tuf in overall earnings, now sits in the third but is only by about $25,000 — meaning the NFR in December will decide who is crowned All-Around Cowboy in 2020.
All ten rounds of the NFSR are available to watch on-demand on the PRCA on Cowboy Channel+ app.
